# Altova Servers on Azure
The [[Altova Server Platform 2025]] brings powerful new features and flexible deployment options to help organizations manage data integration, processing, and transformation workloads in the cloud.

Altova is proud to support Microsoft Azure as a cloud deployment option for its server product line, and is now offering the [Altova Server Platform as a template directly in the Azure Marketplace](https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/altova.altova_server_platform?tab=Overview)
## Deployment Options
If you're considering running [Altova Server products](https://www.altova.com/server-software) on Microsoft [[Azure]], you have two straightforward options to get started:
### Using the Altova Server Platform Template from Azure Marketplace
The simplest way to deploy Altova Servers on Azure is to use the pre-configured template available in the [Azure Marketplace](https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/altova.altova_server_platform). This option allows you to:
- Quickly instantiate a virtual machine (VM) with the necessary Altova Server software pre-installed and configured.
- Save time on setup and focus directly on your workflows and applications.

To deploy using the Azure Marketplace:
1. Visit the [Altova Server Platform page on the Azure Marketplace](https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/altova.altova_server_platform?tab=Overview).
2. Click **Get It Now** to start the deployment wizard.
3. Follow the prompts to configure the VM size, region, and other parameters.
4. Launch your VM, which will already include the Altova Server Platform 2025 software preinstalled and ready to use.
### Manually Installing Altova Server Software on an Azure VM
For users who prefer more control over the setup process or wish to customize their VM, Altova Server products can also be installed manually:
1. Create a VM in your Azure subscription.
2. Configure the operating system and networking settings as needed.
3. From within a web browser on your Azure VM visit the [Altova Download Page](https://www.altova.com/download) to download the required Altova Server products.
4. Install the software on your Azure VM.
5. Configure your environment to suit your specific requirements.
Both approaches allow you to leverage the scalability and reliability of Azure while using the powerful features of Altova’s server products.
## LicenseServer included
The Altova LicenseServer is included automatically in both deployment scenarios above.
Once your Altova Server Platform instance is running, you can choose between:
- **Requesting a Free 30-Day Evaluation License:** This can be done directly from the LicenseServer included in your Azure VM. The evaluation period provides full access to all product features, enabling you to test and deploy workflows.
- **Using Existing License Key-Codes:** If you already own license key-codes for Altova Server products, you can upload them directly into the LicenseServer to activate the software immediately.
If you are planning to deploy Azure VMs in a load-balanced manner or in a cluster, please keep in mind that you should run Altova LicenseServer only on one single VM instance.
## Special Support for Azure
MapForce Server includes special **[Support for Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB](https://www.altova.com/mapforce/whatsnew#cosmos)**, which allows you to streamline data integration tasks involving Azure Cosmos DB. Obviously, a large variety of SQL databases on Azure are also supported - see https://www.altova.com/mapforce#db_mapping
## Is Azure the only deployment platform supported by Altova?
No, of course not! You can run Altova Server products on-premises on your own IT infrastructure - either on Windows or Linux servers - as well as on Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or the Google Cloud, in addition to all other cloud hosting providers.
And we also recently introduced a new way to run [[Altova Servers in Docker]]!
